Von Stalin zu Bach

Ratlosigkeit beim Frühstück, in Anbetracht des bevorstehenden fahrfreien Tages. Plötzlich kommt uns der spontane Einfall, die Ausgestaltung des Tagesablaufs ja auch einfach delegieren zu können. Gesagt, getan. Die Hotelrezeption kümmerte sich weisungsgemäß sofort um einen Führer, der uns die Stadt und das umliegende Land zeigen würde. Wenig später erschien er dann, in Gestalt von Konstantin, seines Zeichens Opernregisseur und Tourismusbeauftragter der Stadt.

Trotz fortbestehender Kommunikationshindernisse wurde es ein vielseitiger und unterhaltsamer Tag, der uns durch mehrere Tropfsteinhöhlen, über Stalins Heilbad hin zu den sehr sehenswerten Klöstern Gelati und Motsameta und schlussendlich zum Wahrzeichen von Kutaisi, der wiederaufgebauten Kathedrale Bagrati, geführt hat.

Statt im Souvenirladen (wir brauchten noch einen Aufkleber Georgiens für unsere Koffer) landeten wir in einer Galerie zeitgenössischer georgischer Kunst und wurden von Konstatin spontan mit einer privaten Darbietung auf dem Klavier überrascht. Anschließend haben wir gemeinsam Khingali in unserer "Stammkneipe" verputzt und unser Tageswerk angemessen bei Live-Musik, von Sinatra bis Bach, ausklingen lassen.

Helplessness at breakfast when we realise that there's a non-riding day lying in front of us. Relief when the idea comes up to delegate the organisation of the day to someone else. A word and a blow! Once requested, the reception of our hotel starts looking for a guide, that'll show us around town and the countryside. Shortly afterwards he arrives in person, Konstantin, director of operas and delegate of tourism.

In spite of ongoing communication obstacles we're experiencing a varied and entertaining day that leads us through several stalactite's caves via Stalin's spa to the beautiful monasteries of Gelati and Motsameta and finally to the recently reconstructed cathedral of Kutaisi.

Then, while looking for a sticker of Georgia for our panniers, that illustrates our itinerary (without success), we end up in an exhibition of contemporary Georgian art, accompanied by a spontaneous piano performance by our guide. Nice! Finally we close our agenda in our "usual pub" again with Khingali 'à la maison' and further down the road to the tunes from Sinatra to Bach performed by a local trio.

Désarroi au petit-déjeuner au vu de la journée qui nous attend, sans aucun kilomètre à parcourir... Soudain, nous vient l'idée spontanée, de déléguer tout simplement l'organisation de cette journée. Aussitôt dit, aussitôt fait. La réception de l'hôtel s'occupe aussitôt, et en suivant nos indications, de trouver un guide, qui nous montrerait la ville et ses environs. Peu de temps après l'homme de la situation est apparu, en la personne de Konstantin, metteur en scène d'opéras et chargé du tourisme de la ville. 

Malgré des problèmes de communication persistants, ce fut pour nous un jour très varié et récréatif, qui nous a conduit à travers plusieurs grottes, les bains thermaux de Staline, les remarquables monastères de Gelati et Motsamenta, et finalement, le symbole de Kutaisi, à savoir la cathédrale reconstruite de Bagrati.
Au lieu d'aller au magasin de souvenir (nous avions besoin d'autocollants de la Géorgie pour nos coffres), nous avons atterri dans une galerie d'art contemporain géorgien, où Konstantin nous a surpris avec un petit concert privé et spontané au piano. Ensuite nous nous sommes précipités ensemble dans notre "bistrot habituel" et nous avons passé notre soirée comme le reste de la journée, c'est-à-dire avec un programme varié : de la musique live, allant de Sinatra à Bach.
